La intención era recuperar el trabajo en el cordaje del piano que hiciera famosos a otros compositores anteriores y aportar nuevas obras al repertorio solista desde el punto de vista de la experimentación del interior del instrumento. El ciclo toma su inspiración de los instrumentos tradicionales chinos. La pieza está construida íntegramente por sonidos armónicos obtenidos en el registro grave, tocando el teclado con una mano y presionando con la otra en diferentes nodos de la cuerda para producir armónicos variados. Hermosísima música llena de juegos de color y resonancias. La pieza no es tan fácil como pudiera parecer, sobre todo al principio para la cabeza, pues el pianista toca una nota en el teclado y piensa en otra diferente en las cuerdas (dos notas diferentes, de hecho, por cada nota del teclado). En los pianos grandes algunos armónicos están realmente lejos... Espero que os guste. The idea was to create new works for the solo repertoire using the strings of the piano and extended techniques as other composers from the past did. Gong is the first in a cycle that takes its inspiration from traditional Chinese instruments. The piece is constructed entirely by harmonics obtained in the low register, playing the keyboard with one hand and touching the strings with the other on different nodes producing different harmonics. Very beautiful music full of color and resonance games. The piece is not as easy as it might seem, especially at the beginning, since the pianist plays a note on the keyboard and thinks of another in the strings (two different notes, in fact, for every note on the keyboard).
