Darbar Festival presents the very best of classical music. in this amazing performance you will hear Jayanthi Kumaresh (saraswati veena) and Patri Satish Kumar (mridangam) performing Thillana in Raga Kapi during the Darbar Festival 2013, London. Jayanthi performs Carnatic ragas through her graceful, emotive and expressive form. She is a multi award winning seventh generation musician who brings to the Festival one of India's oldest instruments, the Saraswati (Goddess of the Arts) veena. The veena is one of the three celestial musical instruments, now in danger of extinction, which makes this concert very rare. Darbar Festival was established in 2006 and takes place annually in London. It gives audiences the opportunity to explore some of the best improvised classical music in the world. At Darbar, we make it easy for you to enjoy the various traditions as we are the only festival that puts on Hindustani (North Indian), Carnatic (South Indian) and Dhrupad (India’s oldest yet timeless tradition) all on one stage, together right here in London.
