"The Seven Seas" March (1937) (Later re-titled “South Wales & West”)
Dedication: To my friend John M'Kellar Robertson
BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by John Wilson.
The Seven Seas, Coates' 1937 March, was inspired by a trip down the Clyde
on a friend’s tug boat, Seven Seas (Coates’ only march in 6/8 time). When Coates recorded it it was one of the few times he removed material from a march in a recording session.
The dedictee was Robertson, John McKellar, C.B.E., J.P.
