Performed by Stephen Wampler, trombone; and Kevin Aanerud, piano in recital at the University of Washington on 12/16/92. Stephen Wampler learned the Krenek during 4 years of instruction with Stuart Dempster, commissioner of the composition. Austrian composer Ernst Krenek (1900-1991) explored atonality and other modern styles of music. Five pieces uses many new techniques and sounds for trombone suggested to him by Stuart Dempster, author of "The Modern Trombone: A Definition of it's Idioms." The composition was written for and in collaboration with trombonist Stuart Dempster.
