01:14 Bax: Sonata for Viola & Piano in G major: I - Molto moderato - Allegro
The name Arnold Bax (1883-1953) isn't terribly well known outside of viola circles, but among violists, the English composer is revered for some of the most important works for the instrument written in the early 20th century. 2015 Heifetz Institute student Sung-Jin Lee, joined by pianist Jun Cho, plays the first movement of Bax' Sonata for Viola and Piano, composed in 1921, at a "Stars of Tomorrow" concert at the Heifetz International Music Institute at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA More:http:// www.heifetzinstitute.org
