Giovanni Battista Pergolesi ( 1710-1736) was an Italian composer, violinist, and organist of the Baroque period (1600-1750). His work profoundly influenced the Neapolitan school, and served as the quintessential prototype of Italian opera. Although he never left the Italian peninsula, his fame as a composer of Italian operas soon spread. In 1746 his most famous work, La Serva Padrona (1733), premiered in Paris without much impact. He also composed many works of secular music and sacred music in which his best known work is undoubtedly the Stabat Mater . With health problems from a young age (believed to have suffered from spina bifida), Pergolesi died at the age of 26, apparently of tuberculosis.

The flute is a type of musical instrument, which due to the simplicity of its construction may be one of the oldest instruments. The body of the instrument has holes that, by opening or closing them, changes the length of the vibrating air inside the tube. The holes are sometimes covered directly with the fingertips; in others, with keys. Despite the fact that it can be made of wood or metal, the flute is classified within the woodwind family, since in these, the sound is produced by means of the vibration of one or several reeds or sections of the instrument; while in brass instruments, trumpet type, it is the lips that vibrate to produce sounds.

Chopin 's work focuses exclusively on the piano, solo or concertante, with which he embarked on a solo career of technical perfection, expressive splendor and deepening in the rubato until he became the musical benchmark for that instrument.

The Minute Waltz, Op. 64, No. 1 is a piano piece in D flat M composed by Frédéric Chopin . Many believe it was given this name because it is only supposed to take a minute to play (although in reality it usually takes about a minute and forty seconds); but as Herbert Weinstock , music historian, already clarified, the " Minute Waltz" had that name, not because minute was "minute", but because it meant "little".

Valentina Lisitsa (1973) is a Ukrainian pianist who has lived in the USA since 1991. She began studying piano at the age of three, later enrolling at the Kiev Conservatory where she met her husband Alexei Kuznetsoff , also a pianist. Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), Austrian composer whose brother Michael Haydn was also a notable composer, was one of the main pillars on which classicism (1750-1820) was based. At the age of six he began his studies on the harpsichord and violin. At the age of eight he was admitted as a chorister at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna where he continued his musical studies. After changing his voice, he had to survive by working multiple jobs, while studying composition by analyzing the works of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach . He maintained a close friendship with Mozart and was a teacher of Beethoven . He established the main bases of the sonata form and the formal structure of the string quartet and the symphony. He died at the age of 77 in Vienna .

Symphony No. 100 in G major, Hoboken I/100 is the eighth in the series of twelve symphonies entitled the London Symphonies (Nos. 93-104), composed by Joseph Haydn ; it is popularly known as the Military Symphony , whose subtitle derives from the second movement , which features striking fanfares for trumpets and percussion effects. One critic wrote after the premiere that the second movement evoked the "hellish murmur of war rising to a climax of hideous sublimity!"

Structure of the Symphony . I (0´00´´) ADAGIO; ALLEGRO The first movement is written in sonata form with a slow introduction that gives a glimpse of the motifs that will appear later in the movement. Haydn 's use of themes and keys demonstrates an important aspect of sonata form: the second subject is defined by the new key, not just by being a new theme .-. II (8´01´´) ALLEGRETTO. The second movement "Military" is presented in ternary form with a central section in a minor mode. The instrumentation is richer than in the other movements; but most notable is the use of "Turkish" instruments (triangle, cymbals, and bass drum) that make their first appearance in the central section. It concludes with an extended coda starring a bugle call for trumpet solo, a timpani roll, which was a revolutionary technique on the instrument, and a loud roar.-. III (14´20´´) MENUETTO .-. The third Movement contrasts with Haydn 's tendency to speed up his minuets; in this one he maintains a moderate tempo, resulting in a somewhat outdated aristocratic-style minuet .-. IV (19'20'') PRESTO. The finale is written in sonata rondo form . The main theme became a popular tune in its time. In the middle of the movement there is a development-like section that contains a sudden timpani strike running through various keys. Towards the end of the movement, the Turkish instruments again color the tutti sections until the end.

Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908) was a Russian composer belonging to the group of The Five (Group made up of Balakirev, Borodin, Cui, Musorgsky and Rimsky-Korsakov himself) who set themselves the common goal of promoting peculiar Russian music, moving away from of European musical dependency and favoring musical nationalism. Rimsky 's works are considered as benchmarks for a varied, colorful and balanced orchestration and considered among the most representative of the orchestral repertoire; all this within his nationalist creed that promoted the incorporation of motifs, rhythms and songs from Russian folklore to his creations.

Scheherazade , opus 35, is a symphonic suite by Rimsky-Kórsakov , premiered in Saint Petersburg on November 3, 1888, based on The Thousand and One Nights . It combines two common features of Russian music: a dazzling, colorful orchestration and an interest in the Orient , much prominent in the history of Imperial Russia . Scheherazade is a new form of composition, to some extent halfway between Hector Berlioz 's Symphony of the Fantastic (1830) and Franz Liszt 's symphonic poem . Probably, due to the plot on which it is based, it is closer to the symphonic poem , in the sense that it is less precise than that of the Fantastic Symphony . The composer always spoke out to avoid a regular programmatic reading.

The suite is divided into four movements, which are: I (0´34´´) «The sea and Sinbad's boat»: LARGO E MAESTOSO — ALLEGRO NON TROPPO .-. II (3'39'') «The story of Prince Kalendar»: LENTO — ANDANTINO — ALLEGRO MOLTO — WITH MOTORCYCLE .-. III (16´20´´) “The young prince and the young princess”: ANDANTINO QUASI ALLEGRETTO — POCHISSIMO PIÙ MOSSO — COME PRIMA — POCHISSIMO PIÙ ANIMATO .-. IV (26'52'') «Festival in Baghdad. The sea. The ship crashes against a cliff crowned by a bronze warrior»: ALLEGRO MOLTO — VIVO — ALLEGRO NON TROPPO MAESTOSO.
