Soprillo Saxophone - Waltzing Soprillda
Description on Youtube:
Excerpts from 'Waltzing Soprillda' This arrangement is for Nigel Wood and The National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain. A witty and imaginative take on Australia's signature waltz was originally written by Philip Buttall for Nigel Wood and his soprillo (It is one of the first pieces to be published for soprillo saxophone). In it, the agile soprillo revisits 'Matilda' in the styles of Ravel, Schubert, Beethoven, Sousa, swing and more, and she is (of course!) serenaded with didgeridoo fanfares. Although written for the unique soprillo, the published version can be played on any Bb or Eb saxophone and piano allowing this antipodean gem to get the wider airing it deserves. http://www.saxtetpublications.com/catalogue/viewitem.php?id=298 http://www.soprillo.com http://www.saxchoir.com http://www.eppelsheim.com Recorded as part of a performance for the Friends of Bournville Carillon at St Francis Church, Bournville, Birmingham, UK on 29th October 2011, featuring the NSC's first ever satellite link-up. Video technology enabled the addition of a carilloneur to the concert programme despite his location in the bell tower across the road. There is no carillon in this piece, but you can see the video screen used to project the image!
