Description on Youtube:
Christian Sinding: (1856 – 1941): Violin Concerto No. 1 in A major, Op. 45 (1898)
Hugh Bean (violin) with Graham Nash conducting the Beckenham Orchestra
Movements:
I. (0:14) Allegro energico
II. (6:37) Andante
III. (15:48) Allegro giocoso
The recording here is a beautiful performance but hampered by recording engineering flaw: the microphone placement did not favor the soloist and the efforts of violin soloist Hugh Bean are somewhat smothered by the rest of the orchestra. Where he comes through, however, makes the recording worth the upload, although the Naxos release of more recent times is a far better recording.
This has been a relatively neglected work by Sinding having received only two recordings on vinyl (that I can find.) This is one of those two recordings and is from RARE RECORDED EDITIONS SRRE 135 (LP); it is pared with the Goddard Violin Concerto No. 1.
