The little church moved about 1910 to a new Gothic Revival building in the
"suburbs," now on Music Row at 1200 Seventeenth Avenue South.
In 1973, the Church of the Advent relocated to a new building in the Brentwood area, at 5501 Franklin Road.
The old church building on Seventeenth, designed by architect Robert Sharp, has been through a series of modern uses:
a neighborhood center for the YMCA;
in 1977, the Advent Theatre of the Tennessee Performing Arts Foundation;
in 1981, the Alamo Foundation's Nashville headquarters and a videotaping center for evangelist Tony Alamo's TV shows;
in 1993, the start of conversion by California investors into Ocean Way recording studios;
and in 2001, acquisition by the present owner, Belmont University.
