#bengalclassicalmusicfestival Padmabhushan Vidushi Girija Devi was a distinguished Indian classical vocalist of the Banaras Gharana. She was called the Queen of Thumri for her inimitable style of rendition of Banaras-style Thumri and Poorab, Chaiti, Dadra, Kajri, Hori, Sawan and Jhoola. She equally mastered the art of presenting Khayal in its most expansive form. Girija Devi was one of the star performers of the maiden Bengal Classical Music Festival 2012, Dhaka, where she brilliantly portrayed a Khayal in Raag Bihag and then offered glimpses of her mastery in Thumri and Dadra.
