'La Rejouissance and Menuets' from Handel's ????? ??? ??? ????? ?????????. Performed by the Academy of Ancient Music, conducted by Richard Egarr, and recorded live at Symphony Hall, Birmingham. Composed to accompany a massive fireworks display on 27 April 1749 to celebrate the Treaty of Aix-la-Chappelle (ending the War of the Austrian Succession), the music was originally scored for martial wind band at the request of King George II. Handel later added stringed instruments in a full-orchestra re-scoring for a performance at the Foundling Hospital, the version performed here.
