The best thing ever happened to a drum set:
Here is a wonderful excerpt for you from a 52-minute TV broadcast at the Sartory-Hall in Köln (Germany) on 8th march 1980 with one of the best drum solos Buddy ever did - hope you like it!
At the end of this clip Buddy announces a second part of the show, but unfortunately this was not shown on TV or recorded for a later broadcast. :-((
For me it was a great pleasure to be in the hall and watch the entire concert, I will never ever forget that night which was part of the "Livehouse Nacht 1980". The Buddy Rich Orchestra played after Carla Bley and her band around midnight.
The line up from the Buddy Rich Orchestra was:
Bob Coassin, Simo Salimen, Bob Doll, Mike Plumleigh (tp)
Glenn Franke, Roger Homefield (tb)
Peter Beltran (b-tb)
Andy Fusco (as/f)
Jack Leibowitz (as/f)
Steve Marcus (ts/ss)
Ken Hitchcock (ts)
Bob Mintzer (bar)
Ernie Vantrease (p/e-p)
Wayne Pedziwiatr (f-b)
Buddy Rich (dr)
P.S. 1: There is a second clip from this concert - a wonderful version of "Birdland".

P.S. 2: For unknown reasons this concert is NOT listed in the legendary book "We Don't Play Requests" - A Musical Biography/Discography of Buddy Rich, written by Doug Meriwether Jr.
