Ernesto Lecuona (August 6, 1895 -- November 29, 1963) was Cuba's foremost composer and pianist. He has been labelled as Cuba's Chopin because of his exceptional pianistic skills. He was a prolific composer and many of his pop Cuban music has been elevated to classical status. He emigrated to the USA in 1960 and later died in exile in the Canary Islands from an attack of asthma.
Noche Azul or Blue Night is one of Lecuona's most popular songs.
Blue night,
that saw my spirit glow
with the passion
of treasured dreams,
come to me again
and bring peace to my heart.
Can't you see that I am dying of love?
Blue night,
Come, blue night,
come once more
and show me your light.
See, it is my heart
that is so eager to love.
Come once more,
for without you
I take no pleasure
in the delights of love.
Come, or I will die of Love.
