“Song for Adrian” for string orchestra, co-written with my twin sister, Shao Ying, was written in memory of our dear friend and talented conductor, Adrian Tan, who passed away suddenly in July 2021.
In Rondo form, this piece is generally hymn-like and the opening few notes of the motif can be heard throughout the piece. Passion and intensity are injected amidst the calm and this piece ends with a grandiose which celebrates the legacy which Adrian had left for us all.
This piece was premiered at BHSO's "In Memoriam: A Tribute to Adrian Tan" concert on 11th September 2022 at the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore, under the baton of Maestro Apo HSU.
