This is a performance of the magnificent Gagliarda by Don Carlo Gesualdo, Principe di Venosa. We are playing in the main hall of the Villa Favard di Rovezzano, that houses the Early Music Dep't and half of the "Luigi Cherubini" Conservatory of Music in Florence, Italy where I teach. The players are, from left to right: me (David Bellugi), Giulia Breschi, Cecilia Fernandez and Bruno Benvenuti. The instruments we are playing on all belong to the conservatory and are, from left to right, a Küng contrabass, a Renaissance basset and a Renaissance tenor both made by Francesco Li Virghi, and a Moeck bass recorder.
